    Location: The Pacific Sutera Hotel, Kota Kinabalu
    Department: Recreation / Leisure
    Reports To: Assistant Director of Security / Assistant Security Manager

    Job Summary
    The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all guests using the swimming pool and recreational water facilities at The Pacific Sutera Hotel.
    This role involves monitoring pool activities, enforcing safety rules, providing emergency response when necessary, and delivering excellent guest service aligned with the hotel’s hospitality standards.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Guest Safety & Pool Surveillance
    Maintain constant and vigilant surveillance of all pool users.
    Ensure the safety of guests by preventing accidents and responding immediately to emergencies.
    Enforce pool rules and safety regulations in a friendly and professional manner.
    Identify potential hazards and take proactive steps to mitigate risks.

    2. Emergency Response
    Respond promptly and effectively to water-related emergencies, including rescues and first aid situations.
    Administer CPR, AED, and first aid when required.
    Coordinate with hotel management and medical services during emergencies.
    Complete incident reports accurately and promptly.

    3. Facility Maintenance & Cleanliness
    Ensure pool area cleanliness, hygiene, and overall presentation meet hotel standards.
    Conduct routine inspections of pool equipment and safety devices (rescue tubes, first aid kits, etc.).
    Report any maintenance issues or safety concerns to the relevant department immediately.

    4. Guest Service
    Provide courteous and professional service to all guests.
    Assist guests with pool-related inquiries, towels, and amenities.
    Promote a safe, enjoyable, and relaxing environment.
    Handle guest concerns or complaints with professionalism and escalate when necessary.

    5. Compliance & Standards
    Adhere to hotel policies, health regulations, and safety procedures.
    Ensure compliance with local health and safety laws.
    Participate in regular drills and training sessions (e.g., emergency response, CPR recertification).
 Skill Requirement
  • 1. Strong Swimming Ability – Excellent endurance and rescue swimming skills
    2. Vigilance & Alertness – Ability to stay focused and monitor surroundings at all times
    3. Emergency Response Skills – Quick thinking in handling rescues, CPR, and first aid
    4. Knowledge of Safety Procedures – Understanding of pool rules, hazard prevention, and protocols
    5. Physical Fitness – Strength and stamina to perform rescues when needed
    6. Communication Skills – Clear and confident interaction with guests and team members
    7. Customer Service Orientation – Friendly, approachable, and helpful attitude
    8. Decision-Making Under Pressure – Ability to act calmly and effectively during emergencies
    9. Teamwork – Works well with colleagues and hotel staff
 Qualication / Certification Requirement
  • Qualifications & Requirements
    Education & Certification
    1. Minimum SPM or equivalent.
    Valid Lifeguard Certification from a recognized body (e.g., Bronze Medallion, RLSS, or equivalent).
    Certified in First Aid & CPR/AED (current and valid).

    2. Experience
    At least 1 year of experience as a lifeguard in a hotel, resort, or aquatic facility is preferred.
    Fresh candidates with valid certification may be considered.

    3. Skills & Competencies
    Strong swimming and rescue skills.
    High level of alertness and situational awareness.
    Good communication and interpersonal skills.
    Ability to remain calm under pressure and act quickly in emergencies.
    Customer-oriented with a friendly and approachable personality.

    4. Working Conditions
    Shift-based work, including weekends, public holidays, and evenings.
    Work primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions.
    Requires prolonged standing, alertness, and physical activity.

    5. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
    Zero or minimal safety incidents.
    Compliance with safety protocols and audit standards.
    Guest satisfaction related to pool and recreation services.
    Response time and effectiveness in emergencies.

    6. Additional Notes
    Candidates must maintain valid certifications at all times.
    Regular physical fitness and swimming assessments may be required.
