Position Summary
The Swimming Pool Attendant is responsible for ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and overall experience of guests using the hotel swimming pools.
This role supports daily pool operations, maintains pool hygiene standards, and provides courteous assistance to guests at all times.

Key Responsibilities

1. Guest Service & Assistance
Welcome guests warmly and provide excellent customer service at the pool area.
Assist guests with pool towels, seating arrangements, and poolside amenities.
Respond to guest inquiries regarding pool rules, safety, and hotel facilities.
Ensure guests comply with pool safety and hygiene guidelines.

2. Pool Safety Monitoring
Maintain constant vigilance to ensure guest safety in and around the pool area.
Monitor water activities and identify potential hazards or unsafe behavior.
Provide first response assistance in the event of emergencies (training provided).
Report safety concerns or incidents immediately to supervisors.

3. Pool & Area Maintenance
Conduct daily checks on pool cleanliness, water clarity, and chemical levels (as instructed).
Ensure poolside furniture, umbrellas, and equipment are in good condition.
Keep the surrounding areas clean, orderly, and free from hazards.
Replenish pool towels and amenities as required.

4. Operational Support
Assist the Recreation team with poolside activities and guest engagement programs.
Coordinate with Housekeeping and Engineering for cleaning or maintenance issues.
Record daily usage reports, incidents, or maintenance observations.
Handle basic equipment such as pool skimmers, cleaning tools, and storage equipment safely.

2. Observation & Safety Awareness
Excellent attention to detail when monitoring pool activities
Ability to identify hazards, unsafe behavior, or potential emergencies quickly
Strong understanding of basic pool safety and hygiene standards
Ability to stay alert while working outdoors for long periods

3. Swimming Ability
Able to swim confidently and comfortably
Lifeguarding or rescue training is an advantage (but not mandatory)

4. Physical Fitness
Fit enough to stand for long hours
Able to handle pool equipment, umbrellas, loungers, and cleaning tools
Comfortable working under various weather conditions

5. Basic Technical & Maintenance Skills
Knowledge of basic pool operations such as water testing, cleaning, and equipment handling (training will be provided)
Ability to manage pool towels, amenities, and poolside setup efficiently

6. Communication & Coordination
Able to communicate instructions clearly to guests, especially regarding safety
Works well with the Recreation team, Housekeeping, and Engineering
Able to report incidents, maintenance issues, or guest concerns accurately

7. Teamwork & Work Attitude
Positive, cooperative, and reliable
Professional grooming and pleasant demeanor
Willingness to learn, adapt, and take on new responsibilities

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum SPM or equivalent.
Experience in pool operations, recreation, or customer service is an advantage.
Basic knowledge of pool safety and cleanliness standards (training will be provided).
Ability to swim confidently; lifeguard certification is an added advantage.
Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors for extended periods.
Friendly, approachable, and service-oriented attitude.
Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
